Delhi minister stresses zero pendency of consumer complaints

New Delhi, Nov 6 : With over 18,000 cases pending in various consumer forums across the city, Consumer Affairs Minister Imran Hussain on Monday directed officials to come up with a plan to clear the backlog of these cases.

The minister issued the directive at a joint review meeting of the Consumer Affairs Department, Delhi State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and various district consumer forums, an official statement said.

Around 6,000 cases are registered every year in the Commission and various district consumer forums. Also, about 7,000 cases are disposed off by them annually and currently there ae about 18,000 pending cases, according to the statement. 

The officials told the minister that early disposal of the cases would require additional manpower, space and financial resources. 

The government is also planning to form consumer forums in each district of the national capital.
