Students from Manipur meet Army Chief

New Delhi : A group of students from Manipur on Wednesday met and interacted with Army chief, Gen. Bipin Rawat.

The group, consisting of 11 boys and nine girls from Sajik Tampak in Manipur, is on an India tour as part of Army's outreach programme that aims to "foster the spirit of national integration across the entire swathe of the country".

Rawat shared his experiences with the students and motivated them to work hard and contribute actively towards the nation-building process. He also exhorted them to join the Indian armed forces and serve the nation.

The tour was flagged off from Sajik Tampak on February 16 and the participants have visited various cultural and historical places in Delhi and Agra so far. 

The Army has been organsing these "educational and motivational" for the youth of northeastern states and Jammu and Kashmir, with an aim to provide an insight into the rich heritage of the country as well as various developmental and industry initiatives that are underway. 

"This initiative will expose them to various career options and enable them to interact with renowned personalities," the Army said.
