Kabul, April 12 (IANS) At least 12 people, including a district governor, were killed on Thursday in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan's Ghazni province, a police official said.
"A group of Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Khawja Omari district at 3 a.m., triggering a fierce gunfight which lasted for hours," the official told Xinhua news agency.
Taliban militants have claimed responsibility and said that they captured the district headquarters.
