Jakarta, March 30 : The Indonesian government is looking for sponsorship to help finance the Asian Games next year in the country, a government minister said here on Thursday.
The amount of funds sought was about 1.5 trillion rupiah (about $112.65 million) for the continental sports event, said Puan Maharani, coordinating minister for human development and cultural affairs, reports Xinhua news agency.
"The target is from 1 to 1.5 trillion rupiah funds, and we hope it can be secured," Puan said at the vice presidential office.
To supervise sponsors' participation in the sport event, Puan said the committee would involve the country's finance and development supervisory agency, and goods and services procurement policy institution.
"All is needed to be supervised to keep the accountability of the establishment of the Asian Games," she stressed.
The Indonesian government is spending about 20 trillion rupiah (about $1.52 billion) for constructing housing facilities for athletes and renovating infrastructure.
The Asian Games will be held from August 18 to September 2, 2018 in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra.
