Freiburg's Grifo rejoins Hoffenheim

Berlin, June 12 (IANS) Midfielder Vincenzo Grifo has transfered from SC Freiburg to league rivals TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with immediate effect, both Bundesliga clubs have announced.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder rejoined his former club Hoffenheim where he played from 2012 to 2014 after inking a deal until June 2022, reports Xinhua news agency.

"You do not need to say much more about Vincenzo's outstanding technical qualities. I am convinced that he, as a versatile attacking specialist and reliable assist giver, will bring important components into our squad," Hoffenheim's sporting director Alexander Rosen said on Monday.

Grifo played since 2015 for Freiburg where he provided 20 goals in 61 competitive outings.

"It feels a bit like coming home. The club has strongly developed since my departure. We are having an exciting year ahead of us with a special challenge. I am looking forward to theses tasks. I would like to fully contribute my strengths," Grifo said.

Hoffenheim clinched the third place in the past Bundesliga season and booked a berth in next season's Champions League group stage.
