New Delhi : Nearly one fourth (23 per cent) of Indians think that Germany will win the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, according to a study made by Ipsos.
Germany is therefore the favourite at the sporting event, followed by Brazil (21 percent), Spain (11 percent), Argentina (8 percent), France (4 percent), Portugal (3 per cent), England (3 percent) and Russia (2 percent).
As the FIFA World Cup starts from June 14, the excitement among Indians is quite palpable.
A total of 83 per cent claim to be aware of the upcoming global event and 85 per cent say they are watching football. Another 31 per cent call themselves passionate football follower.
Interestingly, football is leveraged as a social experience by Indians. A total of 88 per cent Indians say that they will catch the world cup action with friends and or family.
The big screen is still the most preferred medium for watching with 6 in 10 Indians (62 per cent) claiming to catch the FIFA world cup on television.
