UK Permits Vijay Mallya's Extradition

UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid passed an order granting the extradition of Vijay Mallya to India. This decision arrived eight weeks after Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot forwarded the case to the Home Secretary for a decision on whether or not to order extradition.In February 2017, Government of India placed the extradition request to the British High Commission in New Delhi. Exactly two years later, UK permitted the extradition of the Fugitive Businessman.Vijay Mallya has got 14 days to challenge his extradition in the High Court. If he fails to do so, The Liquor Baron will be extradited within 28 days of the Home Secretary's order.


Speaking to media, Vijay Mallya told he is going to appeal to the Westminster Magistrate's order.


Experts say, Mallya's Legal Team should submit the papers for appeal. In case if the leave is turned down, Then Mallya can seek Oral Hearing. The Loan Defaulter has to pack his bags and return to India if the court refuses the Oral Hearing.Vijay Mallya is facing charges of conspiracy, fraud and money laundering. He woes loans to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore for consortium of banks led by SBI.
