Etawah, March 10 (IANS) If Holi is dividing parties in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, the festival could pave the way for uniting a political family in Uttar Pradesh.

For the first time in recent years, the entire Yadav clan set aside its political and personal differences and came together on one platform to celebrate Holi on Tuesday.

Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav led the Holi celebrations in his native village in Sefai in Etawah and son and SP president Akhilesh Yadav joined in.

Shivpal Yadav, the estranged uncle of Akhilesh Yadav, also joined in the celebrations with his son Aditya Yadav.

Dharmendra Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Akshay Yadav and all other cousins in the Yadav clan were also present at the Holi celebrations.

SP MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav was also a part of the family celebrations.

Since 2016, when trouble began within the Yadav clan and relations between Shivpal and Akhilesh became increasingly estranged, the family has not celebrated festivals together.

"The coming together of the family has given us new hope for the future. If the family comes together, no one can stop the Samajwadi Party from returning to power. This Holi will always remain special for us. The efforts of Netaji (Mulayam Singh) have finally started showing results," said Neeraj Yadav, a party worker.
