VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his displeasure over the ‘unplanned’ constructions happening at the entrance of the Interim Government Complex and over the illegal constructions in the capital region by some private persons.
In a review meeting with CRDA officials and higher officials of different departments at his residence in Undavalli on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the unplanned constructions will spoil the elevation of the Interim Government Complex.
CRDA officials were directed to come out with a comprehensive plan for corrective measures and also asked them to address the issue of illegal constructions in the places where 9 cities and 27 satellite townships have been planned in the capital city Amaravati.
He said when a decision has been made, for its effective implementation, organisational setup has to be in place. Officials concerned were asked to ensure that construction of the seven main roads of Amaravati are completed before deadline and they were asked to procure necessary mechanism for the same. The chief minister also suggested them to form monitoring teams to ensure quality and speed while making it clear that quality should not be compromised in any way.
Naidu, who took stock of the roads infrastructure for Amaravati and its peripherals, asked the officials of R&B and CRDA to focus on the functioning of Gammon India Limited, which has taken up National Highway bypass road works. He wanted them to ensure if the company can complete the project in the given time. He wanted the works to be monitored on a continuous basis.
Officials were asked to treat the roads as not just connection between two places for transportation, but as pathways for development and future. They were asked to keep special focus on seed access roads and other roads in the capital city and how they are to be connected to inner and outer ring roads. Future needs of traffic need to be studied and analysed and accordingly constructions have to be taken up, he said.
Pointing out at the objections being raised by the Green Tribunal over the dredging in Krishna River upstream of Prakasam Barrage, Naidu directed the officials concerned to take advice of the advocate general and proceed further. They were asked to ensure ongoing dredging works do not become a problem for the river islets. The CM was of the opinion that the seven river islets in Krishna River near Amaravati should be developed as tourist attractions.
