Review : Guru – Decent Sport Movie!
Finally, it is time that only the story speaks and nothing else. Guru is an out and out story oriented with it’s touch of reality. Victory Venkatesh has brought in that fresh air of sports stories that only speak about the sport. It is true that Telugu Film Industry has never experienced this kind of a movie and this will be a inspiring watch to people who haven’t watched the Hindi version. Guru is the remake of Hindi movie ‘Saala Kadoos’ which got great response from critics as well as audience directed by Sudha Kongara.
Story:The movie is all about a passionate short tempered boxer named Aadi who prefers to stay away from the politics that happen in a Boxing academy. Due to certain reasons he gives up his goal. Meanwhile he turned into a coach after which also the bad time continued. He was appointed as a coach in Vizag where Boxing doesn’t have much demand.
Here comes Ramulu (Ritika Singh) who works as a vegetable vendor. Aadi finds something really special in Ramulu and tries to train her in the best way possible. However, adamant Ramulu doesn’t obey Aadi’s rules. How did Aadi convince Ramulu? How was he as a coach? What did Ramulu do? How did this coach turn a vegetable vendor into a Boxing champion is the inspiring story all about.
Positives:
Story
Venkatesh
Ritika Singh
Intensity in emotions
Negatives:
Nativity issues
Cast Performance:
Victory Venkatesh is a true asset to the movie. His commitment towards the movie was evident on screen and was totally apt to the coach role. After a while, Venkatesh sounded like a real coach and felt like we just travelled along with him the journey. The rugged look and body elevated his character.Coming to Ritika Singh, she has been too good. Her complete transformation from being a vegetable vendor to a boxing champion is inspiring. Other characters were mostly in the Hindi version and so the nativity issues mattered a bit.
Technical Aspects:
Director Sudha Kongara has been successful in delivering a powerful movie like Guru which only revolves around the emotion of sport and doesn’t get out of track at any point of time. The intense scenes between the main characters worked out superbly. Even though Venky told that there were changes made, looked like nothing new is there from the Hindi version.Cinematography was good. Music was also good and Jingidi song was foot tapping. Editing was neat and BGM was full on. Production values were top notch and were apparent on screen.
Analysis:Well, Guru is definitely a good content movie with a single emotion and that’s sport. Director Sudha has been successful in convincing audience about a girl who rose from low to high.
The dialogues at times are striking and the intense climax is a plus. The interval bang is another asset which will make the audience crave for the second half.
Guru- Sport is everything!
Movie Rating : 3/5
