OPS, EPS elected unopposed to crucial AIADMK posts

Chennai, Dec 6 (IANS) AIADMK leaders and former Chief Ministers O. Panneerselvam and K. Palaniswami were on Monday elected unopposed to the posts of Coordinator and Joint Coordinator, respectively.

Party leader and election official and former minister, C. Ponnaiyan announced the results at the AIADMK headquarters. He said that several functionaries, including the headquarters office bearers, district secretaries and former ministers, had filed nominations proposing the names of Pannerselvam and Palaniswami for the posts.

Ponnaiyan said that there was only one nomination for the posts of coordinator and joint coordinator, and the nomination was in accordance with the party bylaw, Rule 20-A(II).

Party workers who were present at the party headquarters received the news with huge applauses.

Both Palaniswami and Panneerselvam, who were also present at the party office when the results were announced, rose from their seats with folded hands to respond to the applause of the cadres.
