Changes in GST are coming in the new year. The revised rates will come into effect from January 1. This will not be a burden on consumers. From January 1, the 5 per cent GST on the textile industry will increase by an additional 7 per cent. It will rise to 12 per cent. This will increase the prices of all types of garments and readymade garments. Cotton is the only exception.

Prices of sandals and shoes will go up from next year. The GST Council has announced that it will no longer levy 12 per cent GST on all types of footwear. Currently, 5 per cent GST is levied on footwear priced above Rs 1,000. However, it will now levy 12 per cent GST on all types of footwear irrespective of price.

Prices will go up for those who book auto services online. Auto travellers booking through e-commerce platforms will be subject to GST from January 1, 2022. Offline or offline auto services do not carry this burden.

5% GST on Swiggy and Zomato orders. Food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato now charge 5 percent GST directly from the customer. The new rule will take effect on January 1. Restaurants that have not yet paid tax are also subject to the tax. There is no harm to the consumer due to this decision.
