Phnom Penh, Oct 24 (IANS) Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Tuesday inaugurated the country's largest public hospital in the northwestern outskirts of the capital Phnom Penh, aiming at improving the quality of medical care services to the public.

"The Techo Santepheap National Hospital is the biggest hospital in Cambodia so far, with nearly 10,000 beds, and is well-equipped with high-tech medical equipment," he said at the event.

Hun Manet said the hospital will not only be a life-saving facility, but also a venue for building human resources in the health sector.

Health Minister Chheang Ra said the hospital building, which includes a helipad on its roof, is divided into different units, including outpatient services, emergency, surgery, medical technology, hospitalization, and logistics.

Located on the Win-Win Boulevard in Prek Pnov district, the hospital will provide a wide range of services to cater to people from all over the country, particularly patients from the 14 districts in Phnom Penh.

It will also cater to patients from the Kandal and Kampong Speu provinces, which border the Cambodian capital.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the hospital was held in February 2022.
