Kolkata, Jan 17 (IANS) A domestic worker has accused a Kolkata Police officer of molesting her, taking advantage of the fact that no one else was home, said the police on Saturday.

The woman filed a complaint against the officer at the Kasba police station via email, the police said.

The name of the accused police officer has not been revealed.

The victim, a resident of the Sonarpur police station area in South 24 Parganas district, was working as a cook at the house of the accused police officer in Kolkata.

She claimed that after the other family members left, the accused police officer attempted to violate her modesty.

When the domestic worker protested, she was accused of theft, according to the complaint.

The complainant alleged that she was forced to write something on a blank piece of paper.

As she was unable to go to the police station, she filed a written complaint with the Kasba Police Station via email.

The young woman further alleged that she has been receiving regular threats since the incident, leaving her in extreme fear. She has demanded strict action against the police officer.

Speaking to a section of media persons, the young woman said, "He molested me when I was sweeping the floor. He tried to violate my dignity. When I resisted, he threatened me, saying he would take revenge. After that, he accused me of theft. The officer made me write a statement, saying I would never steal again. The next day, the officer's daughter-in-law called and said that I had stolen gold ornaments from their house."

The allegations against a police officer have caused a stir and panic in the area. Demands for a full investigation into the incident have been raised.

The accused police officer has not yet commented on the matter.

A senior officer of Kolkata Police said, "A complaint has been received. The matter is being looked into."
