Lucknow, Jan 10 (IANS) After a brief respite, freezing temperatures are back in Uttar Pradesh. The minimum temperature on Friday in Lucknow was 7 degrees Celsius and the Met has predicted a further fall in temperatures due to north westerly winds.

"Rain is now unlikely in the coming days but the chill will increase. Temperatures will go down further due to heavy snowfall in the hills," said a Met official.

A thick curtain of fog was seen in some districts but Prayagraj, where the Magh Mela began, saw some sunshine.

Kanpur, on Friday, recorded a minimum of 6.4 degrees Celsius, Agra was at 6 degrees, Bahraich 5, and Varanasi was at 10.6 degrees Celsius.
