One killed in Gurugram accident

Gurugram, Nov 23 (IANS) A 40-year-old driver was killed in an accident here in the NCR city of Haryana. Police is scanning CCTV footage to identify the killer and the vehicle which hit him from behind and ran away.

The victim Tapan Ghosh, a native of West Bengal was killed in the Sector-45 incident on Sunday, the police said.

Ghosh, who used to drive a private vehicle, was residing along with his wife and three kids at Kanhai village here.

He was travelling on his bike towards Sector-51 for some work at 2.15 p.m. on the Sector-45 road, when an unknown vehicle hit his bike from behind.

"The victim was critically injured. Some passersby rushed him to General Hospital at Sector-10 in Gurugram, where he succumbed to his injuries," investigating Officer Rajender Singh said.

The body of the victim has been handed over to his family members after an autopsy on Monday.

"We have registered a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence at Sector-40 police station against the errant driver. Further investigation is on.
