Congress MP candidate wants data of voters who voted after 5 pm

Congress Khammam candidate Renuka Chowdary has requested an inquiry be conducted into the significant increase in the percentage of votes polled between 5 pm on polling day and the next day. Ms Chowdary, a former Union minister, TPCC election co-ordination committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy, and convener G. Niranjan lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission.


Ms Chowdary told the media that elections should be held in a transparent manner and without irregularities. They said there was a similar increase of voting percentage in the Assembly elections too.


They said that the polling in the Lok Sabha elections on April 11, saw almost a similar increase of 5.26 per cent announced at 5 pm on the day of polling to 64.32 per cent announced the next day.
