Earthquake shook the Andaman Islands today

An earthquake shook the Andaman Islands this morning. At 5.30 am Indian time, an earthquake shook the city of Port Blair in the Andamans. The epicenter was reported below the ground, at 4.3 on the Richter scale, according to the National Center for Seismology. The epicenter was reported 165 kilometers south of Port Blair. The NCS said details of property and casualties caused by the quake were not yet known.

An earthquake also shook Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, yesterday (December 28). Its severity was recorded as 4.8 on the Richter scale. Earlier on December 26, earthquakes shook parts of Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tamil Nadu and parts of AP. A series of earthquakes in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have shaken the country. There were two similar earthquakes in September. People are living anxiously  wondering what would happen if there is major loss of life or property.
