Getting Two Different Doses is More Effective

Concerns have been raised around the world about the effects of the corona virus on vaccinated people. An Hyderabad-based company claims that there is an antidote to this. Covaxin and Covishield are two different vaccines.

A study conducted by doctors at the AIG Hospital in Hyderabad has revealed positive results. It has been found that spike protein antibody response is four times higher in those who take the same type of vaccine in two doses than in those who take one dose of covaxin and another dose of coviShield. This study was conducted to find out how the results are on mixed doses.

As part of this, 330 healthy volunteers (those who had not been vaccinated and those who had not been infected with a corona infection) were selected and tested. Of these, 44 were tested positive for Covid antibodies (sero-negative). These 44 people were divided into four groups. The same vaccine was given in two doses to both groups. The third group was given one dose of covishield and the second dose of covaxin. The first dose was given to the fourth group by Covaxin and the second dose by Covishield.

Doctors found that those in the next two groups were four times more likely to have spike protein neutralizing antibodies compared to those in the first two groups (two doses of one type of vaccine). They were monitored for 60 days for any side effects after two doses. However, no serious side effects arose. "Spike protein neutralizing antibodies kill the virus and reduce the severity of the infection," AIG Hospital chairman Dr D Nageshwar Reddy told the media. This study found that a mixture of two different doses gave good results. It would be better if the benefits come from doing so.
