Haryana DGP Baljit Sandhu gets three-months extension

New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Baljit Singh Sandhu was on Friday given three months' extension in service on Friday, two days before his superannuation.

Hailing from Ropar in Punjab, Sandhu, a 1984-batch Haryana-cadre Indian Police Service officer, was set to retire on Sunday.

"The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for extension of Sandhu's service in relaxation of Rule 16(1) of All India Service Rules, 1958, in public interest," said Ministry of Personnel. 

Sandhu was appointed Haryana DGP in April last year replacing Kushal Pal Singh.
