The central government issued key directives to telecom companies

The central government has issued key directives to telecom companies. Telecom companies are no longer required to store call data and Internet usage information for up to two years. Companies are currently storing user data for up to a year and for security reasons are required to store these details for up to two years.

It said the data could be deleted after two years if any objections were raised. Subscribers' login, logout, email, calling through mobile applications, login details into other apps will have to be stored for two years.
