Booster dose, vaccine for 15–18 year olds

The central government has announced that the vaccine will be given to those of the age 15 to 18 years, in the wake of the outbreak of the Omicron variant coronavirus. The state government will make preparations for the distribution of the vaccine as soon as it receives guidelines from the central government in this regard.


On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the vaccine would be distributed to those between 15 to 18 years of age from January 3. Similarly, doctors, medical personnel, other frontline workers and the elderly above 60 years of age will be given the Booster dose from January 10. However, state medical and health officials are waiting for guidelines for the distribution of vaccines for those under 15–18 years of age.

The government has distributed two doses of vaccine to 4,91,318 healthcare workers and 15,53,283 frontline workers in other departments in the state. There are over 50 lakh senior citizens above 60 years of age. It is estimated that under the age of 15 to 18 they will be over 50 lakhs.
